Deposit Croatia
In Novalja and at Zrce Beach, as in all of Croatia, there is a deposit system for plastic bottles and beverage cans. When purchasing water, soft drinks, or beer in bottles or cans, you pay a small deposit that you get back when you return the empty containers to the supermarket.
The system is very similar to that in Germany and helps to avoid waste and promote recycling. For vacationers, it is worth collecting the bottles and cans and returning them during the next shopping trip – this way you save a few euro cents and help the environment at the same time.
Especially in the summer months, when many tourists are at Zrce Beach, the deposit system is an important measure to keep beaches and streets clean.
