Football Novalja
Football is not only the most popular sport in Germany, but also in Croatia. Many know the big clubs of the country like Dinamo Zagreb or Hajduk Split. But football is also played in Novalja, very close to Zrce Beach.
The local club NK Novalja has a tumultuous history. In the 2004/2005 season, the club celebrated its greatest success when it became champion of the second Croatian league. However, the promotion to the first league failed in the qualification. In the following years, the club could not build on this success and was relegated from the third league to the amateur level in 2013.
The home stadium of NK Novalja is named Cissa-Straško. It is located not far from the popular campsite Straško and is easily accessible from the center of Novalja. Even though it is small, it is an important meeting point for sports enthusiasts in the region.
