Nationalparks
Tips, highlights and helpful context for your planning.
In addition to the Mediterranean coast and the capital Zagreb, visits to the numerous national parks in the interior of the country are also worthwhile.
The Krka National Park is about 1.5 hours by car from Novalja and impresses with stunning waterfalls and a beautiful lake and river landscape. The well-designed path leads over small bridges to several viewpoints over the waterfalls. In some places, you can even swim in the clear water under the waterfalls. Those who need a day of variety from the wild hustle and bustle at Zrce Beach will find this place perfect for about 90 Kuna entrance fee.
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is about 2.5 hours by car from Novalja. Croatia's largest and oldest national park also impresses with various beautiful waterfalls and breathtaking scenery. The Plitvice Lakes are visited not only by tourists from all over the world, but the original Winnetou films from the 1960s were also shot here. You can explore the national park by boat, on foot, or by bicycle. If you are driving to Zrce Beach, the small detour to the Plitvice Lakes is absolutely worthwhile.
Regular tours from Novalja to both national parks are offered. If you are interested, feel free to contact us and we will organize a day trip.
